My Final on Technology: As a new teacher, just out of college, I have come to learn that technology is very important in a classroom setting. With every new day comes new technology that can we used as a valid resource to enhance our teaching techniques. We as teachers should be fully knowledgeable about technology because most, if not all, students in our classrooms use technology in their everyday life. We can use technology to teach students and engage them in different ways that will trigger their different learning techniques. In some cases many veteran teachers believe that the usage of technology will lose the core value of teaching, where as I believe it can only further our quality of teaching. Teachers should know how to use technology and in what was they can integrate it without over killing the students with a plethora of just technology. I think that teachers can find a good balance between technology and regular teaching techniques. With too much use of technology a student could lose their basic skills of using pen and paper and just their brain to learn. I also think that if a teacher has the resources in a classroom, they should not be wasting them, yet use them to their advantage. Technology is an important tool that teachers can use to create new ways in which they can teach their students. At the beginning of the semester, I thought that technology should not be used as much as regular techniques. Now after finishing ISTC 301 I found out that technology can be used in so many different ways to scaffold to students learning needs. I have used this class to find out about many different resources I could use in a classroom setting to engage students. This class has taught me a good balance to keep between technology and regular lecture based teaching tools. I think that technology is fully needed in a classroom, but only to a certain extent. Teachers should not be afraid of technology; they should learn how to use it to better the students’ ability to learn.
